An established GP purchased this industrial site on High Street in Westgarth precinct to accommodate apartments for him and his family while exploring the potential of the site.


The outcome achieved 23 apartments and large commercial spaces with all associated car parks and amenities. This project achieved 6 stars and was finalist in the 2012 BPN Sustainability awards.


Among the passive design and sustainability features are the following:

  • 40,000 litres rain water tank utilized for toilet flushing

  • Cooling fans and LED lights installed in al apartments

  • R3 insulation inserted in all external and internal walls

  • Concrete walls and floors where used to maximize the thermal mass

  • Double-glazing with very low U value

  • High efficient appliances and sanitary ware

  • Low VOC materials used in all a

  • Instant hot water solar system

  • Solar panels for electricity use

  • Cross ventilation allowed by the insertion of an internal courtyard

  • North facing maximized for all apartments
